Mack Trucks partners with Heliox and Gilbarco to increase charging infrastructure in the US

Mack Trucks has announced partnerships with Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root to encourage customer adoption of battery-electric vehicles (BEV) in the United States. The agreements will provide end-to-end support for Mack customers, including hardware installation services and access to charging infrastructure components, which are often difficult to secure. By partnering with Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Mack is providing customers with on-hand inventory and support resources focused on charger uptime, enabling them to access both mobile and fixed chargers.

The partnership aims to help customers in their journey towards zero-emissions technology. This is a key differentiator for Mack, as charging infrastructure components continue to be difficult to secure, and installation and support services can vary, says the company. Heliox, which has a robust portfolio of charging solutions, and Gilbarco Veeder-Root, which has over 150 years of experience in fueling solutions serving fleets, will bring significant value to Mack Truck customers.

Mack’s first fully electric Class 8 refuse truck, the LR Electric, offers a standard 376kWh total battery capacity, which provides an increased range between charges. The vehicle is powered by twin electric motors that produce 448 continuous horsepower.

The Mack LR Electric may be fitted with equipment bodies from various manufacturers based on the unique needs of the customer. The same driver/passenger side driving configurations, as well as seating choices and door options, are offered in the LR Electric as on the diesel-powered Mack LR model.

The Mack Ultra Service Agreement, a comprehensive uptime package that accompanies the purchase of Mack LR Electric models, includes scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance, towing and repair, a battery monitoring service and Mack’s connected uptime services in one package. It can be included with monthly truck payments for customers in the US and Canada through Mack Financial Services (MFS).

Mack’s strategic partnerships with Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root aims to help the company offer a complete solution for electrification, providing the necessary infrastructure, support, and equipment to help customers transition to electric vehicles with ease.
