Developed in collaboration with Voltera, a developer and owner of Charging infrastructure for zero-emission vehicle fleets, the Smartcharger Station strategically sits near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach along the I-710 corridor, a vital artery handling a significant portion of the nation’s containerised international trade.

At present, the charging station caters to Einride’s connected electric fleets, including routes for global shipping leader A.P. Moller - Maersk, with plans to extend services to future customers to fortify the freight ecosystem in Los Angeles County. The official public opening of the site is slatfor April.

“The launch of Einride’s first Smartcharger Station in the US signifies a significant step in establishing digital, electric freight as a pivotal element in a more resilient US freight system,” explained Robert Falck, CEO and Founder of Einride. ”This facility will expedite the region’s transition to electric freight, especially given its proximity to the Port of LA, a major driver of the U.S. economy.”

Matt Horton, CEO of Voltera, praised the rapid development of the Lynwood site, stating, “Our team accomplished the permitting, construction, energising, and operationalisation of Einride’s Lynwood site in under 18 months—a remarkable feat in the charging infrastructure realm. This project has provided invaluable insights that will guide our continued expansion of zero-emission vehicle infrastructure nationwide.”

Beyond providing recharging facilities, Einride’s Smartcharger Station offers truck drivers a comfortable lounge equipped with essential amenities. Integrated with Einride Saga, the intelligent freight operating system, the station provides real-time updates on charge status, remaining time, power output, and performance, unlocking scalable efficiencies for customers.
