Milton Keynes city council includes four battery electric vehicles in a 65-truck order for new waste and recycling service

Milton Keynes City Council has placed an order for a complete fleet of Dennis Eagle RCVs (Refuse Collection Vehicles) as part of its upcoming waste and recycling contract with four of the vehicles specified as battery electric. The council has chosen SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK to operate the new service, which is scheduled to commence in September of this year.

Among the ordered vehicles, four will be 6x2 all-electric eCollects, following a successful trial of the zero-emissions eRCV conducted by the city council last year. The remaining trucks will consist of conventional Elite+ chassis with Olympus bodies. Fifty of them will feature 6x2 Wide chassis with rear-steer and a 21m3 body, while eleven will have 6x2 Narrow chassis with rear-steer and 19m3 bodies. All the fleet will also be equipped with Terberg OmniDEL Electric bin lifts. These bin lifts will facilitate the clean emptying of the new wheelie bins that are being introduced throughout Milton Keynes.
