DAF Trucks has announced the debut of its New Generation DAF XB series at the Solutrans exhibition in Lyon, France. The show, scheduled from November 21 to November 25, will witness the premiere of the 12-tonne XB Electric, a zero-emission electric city distribution truck.

The range includes an XBC construction truck, offering an array of efficient zero-emission battery electric vehicles available in 12-, 16-, and 19-tonne variants. With a focus on aiding transport companies in their transition to zero-emission road transport, these vehicles stand out as leading options for sustainable city distribution.

At the Solutrans exhibition, DAF showcases its full range of zero-emission XB Electric models. The 12-tonne XB Electric model, to be displayed, is tailored for zero-emission city distribution and features variable wheelbase options, starting from 4.2 meters. For applications requiring higher payloads, the XB Electric is available in 16- and 19-tonne configurations.

The e-motor of the new DAF XB Electric offers either 120 or 190kW of nominal power and a nominal torque ranging from 950 to 1,850Nm, with peak torque at 2,600 and 3,500Nm respectively. Equipped with Lithium phosphate (LFP) battery packs, the trucks deliver energy capacities of 141 to 282kWh, facilitating ranges of up to 350km.

Further up the range, the DAF XD Electric, intended for regional and national zero-emission distribution, comes powered by efficient PACCAR EX-D1 or PACCAR EX-D2 permanent magnet e-motors. These offer power outputs from 170kW (230hp) to 350kW (480hp), with battery packs allowing zero-emission ranges exceeding 500km.
