DHL Supply Chain has introduced eight bio-LNG trucks into its Aston Martin fleet which will reduce its carbon emissions by around 800 tonnes per year. The new Volvo FH 460 Globetrotter LNG tractor units will directly replace eight diesel trucks in the Aston Martin operation, supporting both DHL’s GoGreen plan and Aston Martin’s Racing. Green. sustainability strategy.

The bio-LNG trucks are 78% less polluting than their diesel counterparts and are currently operating out of DHL’s Wellesbourne and St Athan sites. DHL Supply Chain is the principal logistics partner for Aston Martin, providing in-bound supply chain services at its St Athan site and supporting the business’ Gaydon production facility with inbound transportation, inventory management and warehousing.

Launched in 2022, Aston Martin’s Racing. Green. sustainability strategy outlines its target to achieve net-zero manufacturing facilities by 2030 and across the company’s entire supply chain by 2039. Wayne Jay, DHL Supply Chain vice president of operations and manufacturing logistics, said: “At DHL we have committed to introducing alternative fuel vehicles into our fleet as an effective, long-term solution driving down carbon emissions for the business and our customers.

“We are delighted to be supporting the iconic Aston Martin brand with cleaner, more sustainable vehicles in its supply chain operations as it works towards achieving its own climate goals.”

Vincenzo Regazzoni, Aston Martin Lagonda chief industrial officer, added: “Replacing diesel vehicles in our fleet with bio-LNG alternatives helps to reduce carbon emissions in line with our Racing. Green. strategy.

“This is a great example of how we want to work with partners across our whole supply chain. We are delighted that DHL is moving so quickly to provide more sustainable solutions which will help us deliver our sustainability strategy.

“We will continue to work with DHL and others in our supply chain to enhance our operations with innovative and sustainable solutions.”
