Volvo Trucks and Verbund forge collaboration for electric truck solutions

Volvo Trucks and the Austrian energy group Verbund have joined forces to provide eMobility solutions, with an initial project involving three Volvo electric trucks deployed at Brau Union Österreich AG.

Volvo Trucks will supply the electric trucks, while Verbund will contribute its business charging solutions. The partners first customer is set to be Brau Union Österreich AG, Austria’s largest brewery company.

Verbund has already equipped six locations, including its headquarters in Linz, with more than 70 AC charging points and six DC chargers. As the integration of Volvo Trucks’ battery-electric trucks progresses, further expansion of the charging infrastructure is planned. The technical aspects of this expansion will be managed by Verbund’s subsidiary, Smatrics, which oversees charging point control and charging card management through its charVIS software.
