Iveco is offering a £1,000 discount for buyers purchasing its eDAILY electric van under Transport for London’s (TFL’s) new scrappage scheme, which gives £7,500 for scrapping 3.5-tonne diesel vans that are Euro-5 and below.

Under the £110m City-Hall funded scheme, charities, sole traders and business with 10 or fewer employees registered in London can apply to scrap a van (£5,000 grant) or a minibus (£7,000 grant), retrofit certain vans or minibuses (£5,000 grant) or scrap and replace a van or minibus with a fully electric vehicle (£7,500 or £9,500 grant respectively).

TfL’s aim is to remove the most polluting vehicles from the road with a strong incentive for operators to make the switch to an EV.

The initiative arrives ahead of London’s expansion of its Ultra Low Emissions Zone in August 2023, which will see the area expanded significantly and operators charged £12.50 a day if their vehicle doesn’t meet emissions regulations.

The Iveco deal will see new customers receive a total of £8,500 off the retail price of the Iveco eDaily electric van.

The new Iveco eDaily offers a 3.5-tonne towing capacity and the same turning circle as its diesel equivalent. The 15kW ePTO enables the vehicle to power equipment ranging from a refrigerated body to a tipper, or an arial platform to a refuse compactor.

It comes with a fully modular battery set which allows operators to tailor their eDaily use based on their mission.

The eDaily also offers one, two, or three 37kWh battery packs and can cover up to 248 miles on a single charge.

Rapid charging at 80kW enables the vehicle to gain 62 miles of range in just 30 minutes.

The electric van also comes as standard with an eight-year 100,000-mile warranty for vehicles with one battery, or 155,000-miles with two or three batteries.

A three-year or 100,000-mile chassis warranty accompanies the 2XL Repair and Maintenance package included for all models.

Mike Cutts, Iveco UK light business line director, said “Air quality is a critical environmental issue, and so encouraging operators to go electric by making the switch even more affordable makes sense. Iveco is proud to support this TFL scheme with an additional £1,000 contribution for eDaily customers.”

Announcing the scrappage scheme last week London Mayor Saqiq Khan said: ““We need to get the most highly polluting vehicles off our roads, which are damaging the health of all Londoners, including drivers. The rising cost of living has been a key consideration for me, which is why we are launching this new and improved scrappage scheme – the biggest ever - to help low-income and disabled Londoners, businesses, sole traders and charities switch to cleaner vehicles, or support them to make the most of other transport options.”

Alex Williams, TfL’s chief customer and strategy officer, added: “£110 million has been made available to support those Londoners that need it most to get rid of the dirtiest vehicles.

“These grants will play a significant role in ensuring smaller businesses, those on low incomes, disabled people and charities are fully prepared ahead of the expanded zone coming in later this year.”
